Rebel Yell: B-I-N-G-O
Taylor Swift could have very easily been singing about Rebel Bingo when she penned the lyrics, ‘'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play; And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.’ A group of friends accidentally created Rebel Bingo in the basement of a London church and since then it has evolved into a
very intense and emotional style of bingo. In other words, it isn’t your grandma’s Bingo played on a Saturday night in a rec center. And that’s exactly what the the traditional Bingo community doesn’t like. But the naysayers haven’t stopped the
Rebel Bingo concept from being played around the globe in Ibiza, Las Vegas, Lisbon, Los Angles, Madrid, New York, and of course London. So, what exactly does an evening of Rebel Bingo entail?
Time Out London called it a
‘wonderful night that combines a bingo-turned-stage show with the full-on atmosphere of clubbing.’ Upon entering the venue, participants are given a Bingo card and marker; and that’s where the similarities to traditional Bingo end. At any given event there are
burlesque dancers calling out numbers, comedians, a wide variety of music playing, and of course drinks (Rebel Bingo is definitely for the 21 and older crowd). Prizes range from stuffed animals to bicycles, and iPod sound systems.
Tickets go quickly, so snap yours up, leave your inhibitions at the door, and get ready to let your inner rebel yell… BINGO! Tell us in the comments what you think of Rebel Bingo. Photo via:
