Post-Event Survival for Event Organizers

They say life goes on, but when the large-scale event you’ve been planning for weeks, even months is suddenly over, it’s easy to find yourself feeling a bit lost and thinking, “Now what?”

Follow these three ‘R’s’ for post-event survival:

  1. Revel in a successful event
Take a moment to acknowledge the enormity of what you accomplished. Consider making a list of what went well. You may be surprised that quite a few of the ‘Oh, I hope this goes according to plan’ items you were stressing over, were flawlessly executed.
  2. Reward yourself for a job well done
Celebrate the fact that you finally have free time! Make your reward a ritual that you do after every event, like
booking a massage or spending a day totally unplugged. Remember, your treat should be in proportion to the size of your event, reflect your personality, and make you happy.
  3. Regroup with your team
Get your team together for a group activity. Sure, you have another event to plan, but there’s no reason you can’t have fun in the process. Go putt-putt golfing followed by a brainstorming dinner. Let them know you appreciate their hard work and that true success is all about finding balance.
