Now Showing: Underground Film Club

December 24, 2015 - By: Sarah Pease

If you’re a cinephile that enjoys a mix of classics, cult favorites, and contemporary films, you’ll want to check out the
Underground Film Club. Billed as the ‘ultimate escapist film event,’ this pop-up cinema concept takes London moviegoers under Waterloo station and into
The Vaults. Hidden under the railway arches (picture the
makeshift MI6 headquarters in
Skyfall), this historical labyrinth of Victorian brickwork chambers, turned contemporary arts space, offers an intimate and unique cinema experience. For the holidays, they kicked off a
Twitter contest called the ‘Underground Advent Club.’ Each day a hint is given about the prize. All that’s required is a retweet. Prizes range from Rooftop Film Club swag and
memberships, Guitar Hero Live experiences, and more! Screening are five nights a week, and a
£15 ($22) ticket gives you:

  • Early entry to the venue.
  • Access to cocktails expertly crafted by Spirited Mixers, along with some of London’s best street food curated by Head Chef of Hawksmoor, Richard Sandiford.
  • Entertainment throughout the evening, such as DJs, bands, games, dance lessons, and sing-a-longs (varies by movie).
  • Wireless headphones for the film.

Tickets solely for the film are also available on request. Can’t get to London? Wait until the weather warms up and head to
Los Angeles or
New York for the
Rooftop Film Club, which runs May through September, 2016. Tell us in the comments if you'd try this pop-up cinema experience!
